Commercial
(part of the Spelling Practice Unit)

make a commercial using spelling words to practice spelling

Creating a commercial is an excellent way to let your young performer express himself.
Your son can make a live action commercial for some product, real or imagined, using all of his spelling words.

Commercial Lesson

Materials:
video camera
(optional – but watching it afterwards is definitely fun
AND he will be hearing his spelling words again!)
spelling words from group A

  1. Your child will need to figure out what he wants to make the commercial about and how he plans to present it before the camera is rolling so he can use his time well.
  2. Explain to your child that all the current spelling words need to be included in the commercial.  Have the spelling words handy from Group A as a reminder of the words that he needs to use.
  3. He also needs to figure out how he will use all his spelling words – in a poster in the background, dance while spelling them, a sign that he reads for the audience or something completely different.
  4. Once he decides how he is going to use the spelling words he might need to make some props (i.e. posters, signs, etc).
  5. Video tape the your son's commercial. You may want to use a tripod for the camera and give him a time limit of maybe 5 minute or less on film.

You can send it to other family members to enjoy!
