Making a diorama puts your child in the center of the activity and responsible for the direction his learning is going. There are many ways to do a diorama, let your child determine how he would like it to look. It is also a great tool to see how much he has learned along the way.
Materials:
---
shoe box
paint
construction paper in various colors
clay
toothpicks or popsicle sticks
scissors
cardboard and various items to complete the scene
After he has finished building his diorama, have him explain everything that is going on to you. Usually he has more going on than a casual on-looker would be aware of. Ask questions about what you see like, "What is happening here?" or "Why is that dinosaur doing that?" so he can be the experts and explain all the details to you.
