Dino Diner Snacks

If you find the video helpful, consider donating $1.

Encouraging kids to eat healthy doesn't have to be dull.  Here are some suggestions to make it a treat to make and eat!

When kids get to create their own snacks they tend to eat them too!  It's a great opportunity to introduce some new tastes with some old favorites.   When your children are confronted with something new, encourage them to just try it.  Honor their opinion, not everyone, even adults, like the same foods.  That way you're not incurring battles over food they won't eat and they may find foods they love.  Also allowing them to make the snack themselves gives them a sense of accomplishment and builds confidence in their own abilities.

Snack Tips:

  1. You can either select one of the Dino Diner Snacks from the picture cards that you have the ingredients for or let your child pick from the Dino Diner Snack Cards. The list of foods are suggestions, but be sure to substitute other foods when there are allergies.

  2. Depending on how old your daughter is,
    • she can help prepare the ingredients.  She can, for example; wash the fruits, get out the bread and slice the banana with a plastic knife.
    • or you can have all the ingredients ready, lined up in order of how they should be added to the creation along with the picture cards.  The picture cards are helpful for children to get the idea of following directions in a set order.
  3. Line up the snack cards from left to right, doing it this way helps any future reader become familiar and comfortable with the direction when reading. parent tip tracking left to right

It's not important if the end results don't look like the picture card.  The cards are to be used only as a guide not the only way the end result might look.
